WATERAGRI partner Forschungszentrum JULICH in cooperation with partners from Universite de Neuchatel and Agricolus developing Integrated physically based terrestrial system models. This solution is data assimilation model which combines measurement data and simulation models. With this models partners tend to predict environmental conditions such as moisture conditions, state of the plants, leaf area index etc.
Integrated physically based terrestrial system models have been developing at the Selhausen pilot site in Germany. At this pilot site there is a lot of measurement equipment available and data assimilation can be precisely evaluated. Hence, model predictions can be improved.
These models in combination with meteorological predictions can help farmers to make better decisions about irrigation management.
