WATERAGRI Webinar at UOULU

WATERAGRI partner, the University of Oulu, recently organized a webinar titled “Agricultural Water and Nutrient Management: Assessing the Usefulness and Sustainability of Solutions.” The webinar took place both online and onsite at the University of Oulu‘s Linnanmaa Campus from October 9th to 10th, 2023. The event received invaluable support from WATERAGRI partners Lund University, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences, and Delft University of Technology, who provided expert lectures.

The primary objective of the webinar was to share findings from ongoing European research projects that explore innovative solutions for water and nutrient retention, as well as recycling in agriculture. The discussions revolved around the opportunities and challenges associated with sustainable implementation. The event attracted 15 participants, including MSc and PhD students specializing in agronomy, engineering, and natural sciences, with a particular focus on hydrology, water and environmental engineering. Additionally, students from various fields, such as political, social, or economic sciences, who were interested in agricultural management, actively participated.

Furthermore, the webinar extended its reach to include partners from the WATERAGRI twin project OPTAIN. This segment featured presentations on the latest discoveries and topics related to the OPTAIN project. Professor Dr. Martin Volk discussed the solutions for water and nutrient retention within OPTAIN, and Camila Pimenta, a participant of the OPTAIN Summer School, shared her insights and experiences with the audience.
