Water is an essential part of life, and it plays a crucial role in achieving sustainable development. It is the primary factor that determines our ability to achieve the internationally agreed water-related goals and targets, such as those outlined in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The UN 2023 Water Conference and the Water Action Agenda will unite the world for water. The key building blocks of the Water Action Agenda are:
- commitment to action
- sustained and scalable implementation
- follow-up and review processes
The upcoming Conference will be co-hosted by the Governments of Tajikistan and the Netherlands. It will be held from 22-24 March in New York. The event will include an opening and closing ceremony, six meetings, five interactive dialogues and side events organized by Member States, the UN system, and other stakeholders.
