Near Vienna is an experimental agricultural field already equipped with soil water measurement devices where WATERAGRI in collaboration with a vocational training school for farmers will investigate water flows on the farm level for improvement of irrigation of different crops and for sustainable use of water resources. WATERAGRI will use tracer and mathematical modeling approaches to assess water fluxes, water retention times, and groundwater recharge.

Related to the three sites the following WATERARGI solutions are tested at:
- Obersiebenbrunn: tracer methods and irrigation practices
- Mistelbach: bio-inspired multi-layer drainage system combined with biochar (pilot site)
- Gleisdorf: bio-inspired multi-layer drainage system combined with biochar (test site)
